When God Shows Up as a Rock

The One Thing
There are times we ask God for wisdom and vision, and if we are not aware, we won't know when that wisdom comes as an answer. Sometimes, He shows up in the smallest, most unexpected ways just to remind us He is our foundation.
When God Shows Up as a Rock
I was home alone when this happened — just me and God. As I was preparing an evening meal for my family, I recognized a rock sitting right at the top of the deck stairs. I stopped and sat for a moment. I wondered all the ways a rock would show up at the top of the stairs unlike any time before. Was it a bird? Another type of being? Or something else entirely?
When I saw that rock at the top of the stairs, I just kicked it back to the ground and went back inside.
As I finished the prep work, I thanked God for the sacrifice of the meal I was preparing. In that quiet moment, I felt His presence. I felt His pain for the loss of the meal we were going to consume, and a deep sense of gratitude washed over me.
Then, as I was cleaning the surfaces of the kitchen to begin again with the meal prep, I looked down. I noticed a ROCK sitting right in front of the stove.
Immediately, I felt His presence and screamed out loud, "THANK YOU!"
This was not in frustration or anger, but so truly in amazement that our Father showed up to let me know He is present and the foundation for everything we do. The rock, although small in its presence, was the Rock to remind me that He is with me and with my family entirely.
I picked that rock up. It now sits right in the window of the kitchen for everyone to view.
So with you, I thank God. He has humor, He has grace, and more importantly, He has Love. I am so grateful that He shows up just to show us He is with us. Of all the signs, showing up as a Rock has absolutely made my day. Thank you God, Thank you!
Monday through Saturday: Your 5-Minute Actions
Monday: Look for the small things. Spend five minutes today noticing one tiny, unexpected detail in your home or on your commute and ask God what He might be saying through it.
Tuesday: Pray for awareness. Ask God for the vision to see His answers when they arrive, even if they look different than you expected.
Wednesday: Thank Him for the sacrifice. Before your evening meal, take five minutes to truly thank God for His provision and the sacrifice required to sustain your family.
Thursday: Keep a reminder visible. Find a small physical object and place it somewhere you will see it often as a reminder that He is your foundation.
Friday: Express your amazement. Take five minutes to tell someone else about a time God showed up for you in a surprising or humorous way.
Saturday: Rest on the Rock. Spend five minutes in silence, acknowledging that God is your fortress and your stronghold, no matter what the week has brought.
